In the Fall of 2008 we began raising funds to reconstruct Tusculum on the campus of Sweet Briar College. We hope to break ground for the project in 2009.
Tusculum will soon be resurrected to take its place with its sister manor house on the pristine historic grounds of Sweet Briar College. The addition of Tusculum will further enhance the already rich architectural resources of the College, which is already a historic district on the National Register. Reconstructed near Sweet Briar House and its rare historic slave cabin, Tusculum will complete the quintessentially American setting of our campus in the beautiful Blue Ridge foothills, in harmony with nature and absolutely conducive to learning and reflection.
Reviving and enhancing the original history of this place of quietude and tradition, Tusculum will stand as a testament to Sweet Briar College's founder, Indiana Fletcher Williams, who was daughter to Maria and Elijah, Indiana's daughter, Daisy, in whose memory the College was built, and all those who have contributed to making Sweet Briar College a place of elegance and excellence for the last hundred years. We invite you to join with us in helping to preserve Tusculum to delight the hearts and minds of countless future generations and to make it a symbol of learning, pride in our heritage, and service to the community.
